Alabama Board of Medical Examiners Rules concerning Office
Based Surgery were amended to require annual registration for certain
office based surgery/procedure physicians beginning in January 2012.
Registration must be accomplished by March 1, 2012.
Annual registration required for physicians who perform/offer to perform
in an office setting:
· Any procedure requiring moderate sedation, deep sedation or general
anesthesia
· Liposuction when infiltration methods such as tumescent technique are
used
· Any procedure in which propofol is administered, given or used
Amended rules are available online at www.albme.org. All
physicians are required to read and be familiar with the content of the
rules.
Registration will be accomplished online only; no paper registration forms will be sent.
To register as an office based surgery/procedures physician, please use the web submission form at www.albme.org/obsregis.html. Registration must be accomplished no later than March 1, 2012.
